In just 10 minutes, Field Marshal Edwin Rommel will take a cyanide pill to end his life.
Adolf Hitler ordered the suicide. He accused Rommel of participating in a plot to kill the Fuhrer. One of Hitler’s most popular generals cannot be implicated publicly. That would indicate weakness in the high command. Germany will learn that Rommel died from war injuries.
After a stellar military career, Rommel now has only 10 minutes to say goodbye to his wife, his son and his chief of staff.
